This training explores the traits, impacts and genesis of alexithymia through a neurodiversity paradigm and Internal Family Systems lens. The mainstream interventions are discussed, as well as strengths-based supports rooted in partnering with the client to find the path toward healing. Sofia will also share her journey with alexithymia and healing.
The training will include a presentation and an interactive exercise.
What others have said about this training:
"I have a close friend with alexithymia who experienced a lot of social stigma - was even called a narcissist. So for me, this training helped normalize the experience of my friend and made me more aware of the language to understand their experience. I wish this was more understood socially, and hopefully will help create more compassion for people with alexithymia."
"I found this training is very person-centered, strengths-based, and enjoyably interactive that allows not only you to develop knowledge on the topic but also to connect with the individual you are working with possibly in a way that they have not received from other practitioners."
"If you've ever found yourself frustrated with a client who seems disengaged, this training is imperative. It reframed my understanding of alexithymia and helped me see how my own internalized ableism can create barriers, not just theirs."
